Welcome home
...seriously, we mean it! We want IBC to be a place where everyone feels welcome, where deep relationships can be built that will help us follow Jesus, a safe place where faith can grow.
Our services and programs are open to anyone. You do not need to have to be a member of IBC or even consider yourself a Christian. We do hope, however, that you would meet Jesus here. So, please do feel free to attend our programs.
If you have relocated to Hamburg recently and you are looking for a new home church we would like to get to know you. Please meet us at the Connection Center after the church service or contact the the church office.
Program
Our Sunday services are celebrations: The great diversity of our congregation is evidence to us of a great God who saves people from any background imaginable. No wonder our worship is lively and loud! Part of our worship experience is our time of food and fellowship immediately after the service.
There are six different children’s groups that run parallel to the worship service: 0-3 years old – Bubbles, 4-6 years old – Bouncies, Grades 1-3 – 7ups, Grades 4-6 – Pre-teens, Grades 7-9 – Junior Teens and Grades 10+ – Senior Teens.
Throughout the week we meet in Life Groups all over the wider Hamburg area for deeper Bible Study and community.
We also have many other ministries which take place in our church on Sundays and also during the week. We would encourage everyone to try to become involved in one or more of these so as to connect with others and to serve the Lord.
The ministries include: Food for the Homeless, Prayer Ministry, Worship Ministry , Young Adults Group, Women's ministry bible study, Community and Connection, the children’s groups, as well as the audio/visual teams responsible for sound and livestreaming on Sunday Our team of interpreters offer simultaneous translations into German and, when requested in advanced, into Ukrainian.
Location
IBC-Hamburg is located opposite the Catholic „Kleiner Michel“ on Michaelispassage 1. If you come via public transport take either S1, S2 or S3 to Stadthausbrücke. The church is right outside the exit "Michaelisstraße".
Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a dress code? No. Feel free to dress casually.
I am not really familiar with Christian church services and I don't know if I believe in God at all. Is it okay to come anyway just to check things out? Absolutely! You won't be the first one and probably not the only one on any given Sunday. If you have any questions, please feel free to talk to our pastors, elders and welcome team.
My English is not the best... ehrlich gesagt ist mein Englisch nicht so gut. Gibt es vielleicht eine Übersetzung? Ja, wir bieten eine Simultanübersetzung an. Einfach am Eingang des Gottesdienstsaales die netten Helfer um einen Kopfhörer bitten.
I have heard there will be a time of food and fellowship after the church service. How much does that cost? Nothing. Our Food Fellowship ministry is an important part of church life for us because we love to connect and get to know each other better. And that works best over a coffee or a meal. So, just follow the crowd after the service...
I like the cultural diversity at IBC. Do you also give room for different religious traditions? As a matter of fact, even though we are a Baptist church we see people from many different Christian denominations attending IBC. We enjoy a colorful and rich worship experience and believe that God is glorified through it (Rev 7:9). However, we do not want to celebrate culture for culture's sake. The reason we come together is to celebrate Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour. When you attend IBC Hamburg, you will meet people from virtually every corner of the world who have come to believe that he is just that.
